Trail Overview
Trail 146 is accessed from the paved Gunflint Trail and leads to the East Bearskin Campground. The route is composed of well-maintained gravel, though some sections have potholes and mild corrugation. It winds through a wooded landscape and features a series of ascents and descents. Several private residences are located along the trail, and it is commonly used by walkers and runners, so drivers should proceed with caution. The trail ends at an intersection near a trailhead, beyond which the road narrows, offers no turnaround space, and continues onto private property. Public water access is available at the East Bearskin Campground, which also serves as a popular entry point for canoeists. ATVs and side-by-sides are not permitted on this trail. Several ski trails branch off from the main route, and users must obtain proper permits from either Golden Eagle Lodge or Bearskin Lodge, as Minnesota state ski passes are not accepted in this area.
