Trail Overview

This trail follows a wide, well-maintained gravel surface. Some areas may be slippery, so caution is advised when driving. The route runs mostly straight, passing through a mix of forest and open fields. There are no offshoot trails along the way, except for a single connecting trail located near the end. The main route concludes at the intersection with 500 Avenue. Drivers should be aware of local traffic in this area, as it can be active at times. Continuing from the endpoint, the trail leads into the Beltrami State Forest. The route does not offer any dispersed or formal campsites, and there are no amenities such as trash disposal or a water supply. Cell service may be limited along much of the trail, so visitors should plan accordingly before traveling this section.

History

The Bemis Hill Trail Network in Beltrami Island State Forest offers over 96 miles of off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails, primarily maintained by the Roseau/Lake of the Woods Sportsman's Club. These trails traverse diverse terrains, including pine-covered ridges, expansive flatlands, and peat bogs, providing a scenic and enjoyable experience for riders of all skill levels.
