Norway Truck Trail 3 North Loop

Trail Overview

This is Norway Truck Trail 3, located in Dickinson County, MI. This trail runs along the northern end of the NWT trail system before it begins to work its way down to the southeastern edge. While challenging, this trail is a lot of fun and should be considered by riders with some off-road experience. If you rode from the northern trailhead south, the trail begins under the high lines, as it navigates across the rocky UP landscape. Several large rock faces will need to be climbed and descended, and several areas will have washouts from runoff. Tire placement in this section of the trail is essential to avoid pinch flats;though unlikely, there is a minimal chance of rollovers. The trail then darts onto a tight forest two-track road for its remainder. There are numerous large mud holes and water crossings throughout this portion of the trail. A winch and good tires should be considered a minimum for this part of the trail. Several mud holes can have a depth of over 2ft. The trail winds through mostly mature forests for this portion, with poor to okay sight lines of what lies ahead. One section of the trail has a narrow single-lane bridge, which is wide enough for a 64-inch SxS. The trail exits at its southern trailhead at a large sand pit. This trail will leave you very satisfied once completed.

Difficulty

This trail can be challenging, especially after heavy recent rainfall that can create large mud holes, and deep washouts. Additionally, the northwestern portion of this trail has several rock faces that need to be navigated. These can be slick when wet, and can have large washouts along them from rain. This trail should be ridden with good tires and a winch at a minimum, however, a spotter or extra machine can be useful for less experienced riders.
