Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 9692 is an easy, fun off-road trail for beginners. Located just around the corner from Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary, this route is easily accessible. This trail is very easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through a beautiful forest with great fall foliage. The Birch Grove Trail as well as the North Country Trail are two hiking trails that cross over this track. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle. There are a couple of dispersed campsites right off this trail. There is also a side spur trail, NFSN 9898, which is a lot of fun. Regardless of the conditions, this is a trail that should be experienced at least once to take in its sincere beauty.
