Trail Overview

NFS 6808 is a seasonal bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Starting on the east end at S Sterns Road, you'll begin in a dense portion of the forest with a lot of ground covering. As you navigate down the trail, you'll descend deeper into the forest with some breathtaking views of some of Michigan's finest towering Red Pine Trees. Shortly after, the trail narrows with trees lining both sides tightly. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. These typically aren't bad, but something to note. This is a trail that should be taken slowly to ensure you can take in its beauty. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. There are a few sections where trees are leaning over the trail. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The end of the trail finishes at NFS 6680. One last thing to mention is that this trail is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Regardless of the conditions, this is an incredible trail!
