Trail Overview

NFS 6459 is a seasonal bidirectional trail located within the Manistee National Forest. Starting from US 10 Highway on the north end, you'll begin on a sand and dirt combination trail that is plentiful with aspiring trees. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! Shortly after the start of this trail, it runs alongside private property. Please be respectful of the local landowners and stick to the trail. As you continue along the trail, you'll come across several sections with mud holes as well as exposed tree roots. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. The trail eventually transitions into a sandy two-track that will take you through some dense portions of the forest with a lot of nature to take in. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of natural beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The south end of the trail finishes at W Wingleton Road. One last thing to mention is that this trail is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail!
