Trail Overview
NFS 6047/6647 Loop is an easy & scenic off-road "loop" trail located in the Manistee National Forest. This trail is usually very easy with nothing technical, just a few soft and sandy spots. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for one to two vehicles, with limited places to pass. There's a large dispersed campsite along this track, overlooking a sand bluff along the Big South Branch Pere Marquette River. If you plan on utilizing this spot, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and seek more information at the local DNR Office/Ranger Station prior to camping here. All in all, this is an awesome trail that everyone should check out!
