Federal Forest Service Road (FS) East Lake Road is a federally owned/ locally maintained, Level-2/ Level-3 forest road with a surface composition of dirt, sand, gravel, and native material. This route is currently open and in fair condition; it is a DNR road: known as ORV Route AN (ORV use is subject to local government regulations). This route connects Charles Moran Road to FS 3450, FS 3118, FS 3309, FS 3129, FS 3771, FS 3116 (ORV Route A), FS 3808 (ORV Route A), FS 3112 (ORV Route A), FS 3111, FS 3746, FS 3487, FS 3114, FS 3119, FS 3115, FS 3323, FS 3042 and Trout Lake Road. History
East Lake Road/ ORV Route AN begins on Charles Lake Road: Charles Moran was a prominent 19th-century Detroit businessman, politician, and landowner whose family held significant property in early Michigan. In 1876, Charles and William Moran notably donated land to help establish "lighthouse road," known today as Alter Road in the Grosse Pointe/Detroit area, facilitating infrastructure development and draining marshlands.
