Trail Overview

Devils Lake Loop 1 is an ORV trail that caters to a wide range of vehicles, from large 4x4s to dirt bikes. The trail is predominantly composed of sugar sand interspersed with dense forests. A section of the trail even runs alongside a railroad, offering the opportunity to witness the train passing by from a close distance. Additionally, there's a scenic spot with a breathtaking view of Devils Lake, perfect for taking photos.

Access Description

Traveling west on Werth Road, head out of Alpena and take a left onto Piper Road. It's approximately a mile from the traffic light. Follow Piper Road for about 2.5 miles. You'll be looking for a sandy area with a railroad crossing on your right. Cross the railroad tracks, and the parking lot is about 100 yards past the railroad on your left.
