Leaving Shady Grove Road, this trail takes you through Carthage Timberlands and into Kisatchie National Forest. This dirt and gravel road is a bit on the sandy side but even wet caused no issues getting to the forest. This trail stops at Peterson Road (506) which turns east and takes you deeper into the forest. Beautiful views of this timberland and abundant wildlife make for a great adventure. The Winn Ranger District encompasses 164,000 forested acres in Winn, Natchitoches, and Grant Parishes, with close proximity to the Winnfield area.

Difficulty
This trail is gravel, dirt, and sand mixed. It is slippery and lacks traction when it is wet. There is enough gravel to keep you from getting stuck as long as you don't slide off the road.
