Trail Overview
Collie Cemetery FS 307 is a gravel forest service road through the center-west Kentucky section, Kentucky Lake side, of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The road provides access to the Rueben Collie cemetery and ends according to the MVUM at the peak ridge top just west of the turn-off to the graveyard. The road features mild erosion and has signs of repair via coarse gravel being dumped on the hills, yet it still has other hills with evident growing erosion and soft spots that likely fill with water and become mild mudholes in the year's wet season.

Difficulty
FS 307 is given a base rating of 2/10, having some mild grades with signs of former erosion that has been repaired with large 2" gravel, but other hills have still-present active erosion measuring in the foot depth range. The trail also features natural coarse cobbles (4-10" rocks) scattered in the road on these eroded hills. Soft spots where the road has changed from gravel to dirt were observed in two places along the track, they were 90% dry during documentation in 10-2024, but show very strong evidence of being soft-bottomed water collection spots in wet seasons, appearing to not have great depths being less than or at a foot deep on the easy lines, this would increase the difficulty and lean the trail to a 3/10 rating. If in doubt probe it out and determine depth.
History
The FS 307, provides access to a Ruben Collie Cemetery via the Land Between The Lakes recreation map, but when conducting research, it was found that the spelling of the first name is incorrect, it is spelled Reuben. To add more complexity, Reuben was a common Collie family name transcending three known generations, spanning from 1846-1961, surrounding the Lyon County Kentucky Area, yet all three men having the name Reuben were buried elsewhere, only concluding to cemeteries resting place of young children of Reuben Burrows Collie (1846-1925). Please respect the cemetery and those who came before us, if you choose to visit, leave it the same, or better than you found it.
