Trail Overview

377 Palouse Divide East is a 28.8-mile point-to-point trail that, when starting from the west, begins at ID6 and ends at ID3. Palouse Divide East starts as a wide gravel road for the first 8 miles until the intersection with 377-A Bald Mountain Lookout. After this point, the road becomes rougher, with embedded rocks in the road surface. This continues for several miles before becoming dirt and sand. There are many sections of ruts, some of which will need high clearance or good line choice. The road continues in this condition until mile 21, where the surface becomes smooth gravel until it ends at the intersection with ID3. Signs on the west entrance to the trail indicate that it is open from 4/01 to 12/01. The Idaho Trails map on ArcGIS disagrees, stating that 377 Palouse Divide East is open from 5/01 to 11/30, from ID6 to mile 7, and open year-round from mile 7 to the intersection with ID3. In Idaho, signage on the trail is always considered correct. Note that pictures go from west to east.
