Trail Overview

Drake Creek Trail starts at the Drake Motorized Trailhead in the Targhee National Forest and climbs over 1,100 feet up to the intersection with Rocky Peak and Big Hole Crest. The trail is a narrow singletrack with a fun, flowy feel, twisting through the trees with lots of smooth corners. Riders will pass through scenic aspen groves, with sections of small embedded rocks and tighter turns that add some technical interest. There are also some bigger embedded roots and short rocky stretches where the trail gets more challenging. In those sections, you'll find clusters of large embedded rocks and small ledges formed by roots and boulders. The trail goes through a very small water crossing, but nothing overly difficult. There's no major exposure here, and you won't be side-hilling as much as on other trails in the trail system, which helps keep the trail manageable for less experienced riders. Most of the ride is moderate in difficulty, making it an enjoyable and scenic route.

Difficulty

This is an intermediate trail due to the steady elevation gain, tighter corners, and short rock and root sections that require some technical ability. The low exposure and flowy character make it a good fit for riders looking to progress their singletrack skills without tackling anything too high-consequence.
