Trail Overview

The trail starts near Saint Anthony Sand Dunes in open desert cattle land. The route, then takes you through forests by the Island Park Reservoir, and ends by following between the road and Henrys Fork. The trail is easy with only two minor ledges that could be avoided by taking the road. Half of the trail is only a single lane wide, while the other half is double wide. Vehicle traffic is common around the Island Park Reservoir area. During the spring there are deeper puddles in multiple areas throughout the forested sections.

Starting from the south end, this is called Sand Dune Road for a reason. First four miles are graded gravel, but then after crossing a cattle guard it becomes fesh fesh (super fine, incredibly dusty sand). This absolutely fine on four wheels, and likely on dirt bikes, but will be challenging on (heavy)adventure bikes. Likely to be enjoyable just after a good rain to pack the soil.

Avoid the Last Chance Bar & Grill at all costs! It was terrible. Nastiest place we’ve been to. Health hazard to say the least. Food poisoning would be an understatement!

We started at Last Chance. First few miles you ride by the highway, next 10 miles is graded 2 lane gravel road, then turns into 1 lane dirt road. A few puddles that you could go through or navigate around. You could see a reservoir off in the distance through the trees. Last 20 miles or more is out of the forest and the last 5 or more the road is very sandy from the sand dunes. Beautiful scenery and geography. Would go again.

Trail was great, and quite easy (comparatively) any Dual Sport/Adv bike can do this. Was VERY quiet this day, I was the only one on the trail…. No animal sightings other than cattle (shocking!! lol) and birds. One downed tree across 167 but was easily avoided by a small dip off then on trail.

Trail is mostly clear of snow, just a few small patches left but easy to get through. Started at Highway 20 and went as far as Porcupine Canyon and returned back.
