Trail Overview
This scenic trail begins in St. Charles, Idaho, and leads through oak and pine trees, taking you out of the valley. The trail follows a well-graded, full-width gravel road to Pat's Hollow, the site of a tragic plane crash in 1953. Along the way, you can enjoy stunning views of pine and oak forests and rolling green mountainsides. The trail is mostly straightforward with a few instances of bumpiness caused by large gravel or washboard roads, but overall is an easy trail with no obstacles aside from occasional very small runoff erosion. Depending on the weather, snow accumulations can make the trail challenging in winter, and in higher elevations, it may persist into mid-summer. There are some dispersed camping areas and many enjoyable side trails to explore. This trail is suitable for full-size 4x4s as well as single tracks.
