Trail Overview

This trail is located within the Babcock-Webb Wildlife Management Area. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission requires a $3 per person or $6 per vehicle for daily use fee. Some exceptions may apply to those who hold a current WMA Permit from FWC; check with FWC and download the specific WMA regulations posted on their website. Once onsite, you are required to check-in at the "Check Station", which is an iron post next to an information board located on the north side of Zemel Road. See the picture of the check station. Remember to tread lightly and to remain on only named or numbered roads/trails. The trail head for this trail is located off Seminole Grade, north of Zemel Road. It is a rather short trail with deep sand. It is wide enough for two vehicles. At the trail's end, you will need to turn around and backtrack out; no through access to other trails via vehicle is permitted. During periods open to hunting, this trail may have hunters parked alongside and actively hunting in the area. It is best to be respectful and avoid this trail when hunting is in progress. During the non-hunting season, there is a good chance of observing some wildlife (e.g., Whitetail Deer, Wild Hogs, Coyote, Bobcats, Bald Eagles, etc.) or cattle along this trail. Getting to the trail head via Seminole Grade can be accomplished in a regular street-legal 2WD vehicle. I have driven this trail numerous times in 2H and never needed to engage 4x4. I have been with a friend in their vehicle, and their vehicle would start to stick in the sand and would require 4x4. I would not recommend this for a 2WD-only vehicle. Only street legal vehicles are permitted.
