Trail Overview
This trail is located within the Osceola National Forest and the Osceola Wildlife Management Area. The trail is open to public access year-round unless otherwise posted. This trail may be ridden by registered motor vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, recreational off-highway vehicles (side-by-sides), and unlicensed or unregistered motorcycles. Vehicles are only allowed on named and numbered trails. There are select areas where county-owned and maintained roads prohibit the use of OHV's, ATV's and unregistered/non-licensed motorcycles on the right of ways. These areas are well posted on the shoulders of the roadways. This is the only National Forest that offers fee-free, no-permit-required access year-round. This is a good trail for new adventurers as it provides optional bypasses around areas that are more challenging. The trail is not very difficult and is easy to complete within an hour or less. High clearance and 4WD are not necessarily required for most of the trail. However, near the midpoint and beyond, there are select segments where vehicles with high clearance are recommended. The trail varies in width from single vehicle wide with pull-offs for passing to full width. The trail is mostly composed of compacted sand and rock. There are isolated and scattered segments of loose soft sand. Rutting, potholes, and contours in grade can be expected. This trail is fun as it presents an almost pick-your-adventure scale as there are numerous parallel tracks that offer more challenging options with deep sand, mud, ruts, and obstacles. This trail leads through a variety of landscapes, ranging from pine/oak Hammocks, hardwood swamps, and wetland/marsh areas. Following rains and or storms, the trail may go unmaintained for a period of time.
