Trail Overview
The trail consists of lots of large loose rocks, particularly during the first mile to mile and a half. It runs through dense forest following a creek until about halfway, at which point it starts to open up in the creek valley. As you continue, you'll start to pass the tree line near the end of the trail. There are a handful of small lakes along the creek, and you'll see the surrounding mountains with a view past the valley you just came through. This road dead ends at the Ptarmigan Lake trailhead; however, this is another offshoot of additional trails prior to the end of the road. There are a small handful of dispersed campsites along this road. The trail is approximately 12 miles round trip and took about 3 hours out and back.
