Trail Overview
Saddle Up is a 50-inch trail most accessible from the Bangs Canyon Trailhead. This trail seems to see less usage than others in the area. If you're out in the offseason or on a weekday, you likely will have it to yourself. To access from Bangs Canyon, briefly take the Tabeguache Trail about 500 feet before turning left on Billings Canyon Road. Saddle Up will be another mile to the right. The first couple miles on the west end of the trail will be the most technical. There are some moderate features that require some skill. The trail can be tight at times for an ATV secondary to protruding rocks and mild exposure. The trail becomes less technical but remains a little chunky as it moves east. The trail ends where it intersects with the Horse Mesa Trail (BLM Route 630). Lasso and Pony Tail are two single track loops that can only be accessed from Saddle Up. This trail ridden on a dirt bike takes around 30 minutes, on an ATV it would likely take twice that.
