Trail Overview
Jenny Creek is a challenging 3.4-mile off-road trail designed for experienced drivers seeking a scenic and technical climb through Colorado's high country. Starting at Forest Road 502 off Rollins Pass Road the trail rises over 1,000 feet to reach an elevation of 10,735 feet at Yankee Doodle Lake. The route offers a diverse mix of terrain. Drivers will navigate a recently rerouted clear-cut section where numerous tree stumps are scattered across the path, requiring careful tire placement to avoid snagging low-hanging differentials.
The difficulty increases on the upper sections, which feature steep gradients and sizable rock ledges that demand high clearance and a skilled driver. High-clearance SUVs can complete the journey, built rigs are ideal for tackling these technical obstacles. Unlicensed off-highway vehicles are allowed on the route but must display a valid Colorado OHV permit. Because of the high elevation the trail is typically impassable due to snow until late spring, the best driving conditions are from mid-summer through early autumn.
Difficulty
Difficult. Much of the trail is moderate, but two sections are marginally difficult. A clear-cut area for the new route has a lot of tree stumps waiting to catch on low hanging differentials. Another section is steep with some good size rock ledges. Aggressive, highclearance SUVs with a skilled driver should be able to get through.
