Trail Overview
This is a spur trail off the main Forest Service Road 181 route through the Chicken Park trail system. The trail passes through a mix of pine and aspen forest within open meadows and rock formations. Some rock formations are 100's of feet tall. The trail passes by multiple dispersed campsites towards the southern end of the trail. The trail is typically one vehicle wide, with occasional grassy pull-offs that allow for passing. OHVs are permitted on this route. The trail has a seasonal closure from November 30th to June 15th, although dates may vary based on conditions. Both entrances to the Chicken Park trail system are gated with a sign indicating the gates will be closed on December 8th for the 2025 season.

Difficulty
Drivers can expect occasional embedded rocks in the 2 to 6 inch range, moderate grades, and standing water up to 12 inches deep in wetter seasons. There are a few rock shelves, 6 to 9 inches tall, depending on the selected drive line. When muddy, the trail surface becomes rutted in areas. There are also a few areas where protruding or overhanging branches may make contact with vehicles, and the trail is only 9 feet wide between trees.
