Trail Overview

Carson Road and Wagner Gulch Road are popular sides of Cinnamon Pass on the Alpine Loop. They can also be accessed from Highway 149 to the east via Carson Pass Road. Home to one of the largest semi-preserved ghost towns in Colorado with more than 20 buildings standing and numerous mines.

Difficulty

Typical rocky road with one mild stream crossing if you wish to enter the town of Carson. You will need to turn around at the top of the Pass, continue east on Carson Pass Road, or continue south of Lost Trail if equipped with a 50" less vehicle.

History

The ghost town of Carson has been for sale many times and has not gone forth and been featured on national news as well as in real estate publications.

Access Description

This trail can be accessed from the east off Highway 149 via Carson Pass Road. From the south of Stony Pass and the Rio Grande via the 50" lost trail. or most commonly from the north via Cinnamon Pass.
