Trail Overview

This is a short connector route and bypass for the nearby portion of Ten Mile Grade that passes through the private property of the adjacent Yosemite Mountain Ranch. This is a fast, single-lane dirt Forest Service road through a dense mid-elevation forest. The road is not maintained and features numerous deep erosion ruts and loose silt, especially on short, punchy climbs.

Difficulty

This trail is short and fast but requires high clearance and articulation to comfortably navigate the numerous deep erosion ruts and center hump. While 4WD is usually not required in dry conditions, it is strongly recommended for stability and traction on the loose, rutted climbs.

History

This area was central to the Sierra Nevada's historic logging era (1880s to 1930s), supplying timber to the Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Company. The Ten Mile Grade and the surrounding network of logging roads were built to haul timber.
