Trail Overview
This route starts on the west side of Highway 395, located 3.7 miles south of the Lake Scenic Loop South entrance, and leads toward Hartley Campground and the Obsidian Dome. The track is two vehicles wide and lined with tall pine trees, creating a scenic forest corridor. Various spur trails branch off to explore and find dispersed campsites throughout the area. The trail continues on to Hartley Campground and is paved for a very short moment as you start the climb. The route is part of a larger Hartley Loop system and climbs and drops around 400 feet in just over three miles.

Difficulty
The trail features sand and pumice tracks with lots of washboards and some ruts, especially on the hard corners. Please use caution and lower your speed as you cross the campground.

The trail starts on the west side of Highway 395, located 3.7 miles south of the Lake Scenic Loop South entrance, and ends on Wilson Butte Loop via Forest Service Road 2S22, providing access through the Hartley Campground area.
