Trail Overview

The easiest way to start this trail is off the 15 Freeway and Glen Helen Parkway Road to Lower Lytle Creek Divide - 3N31. There are a couple of residences on the right-hand side of the road just before the trail begins, so please be mindful of this when airing down/airing up. The trail begins shortly after. The majority of the trail is hard-packed granite or sandstone and is heavily rutted with obvious signs of water runoff after rain. The trail offers many beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Lytle Creek below. There are several turnouts built into the trail to allow for viewing and taking a quick break. There are several other trails that intersect, providing places for other vehicles to pass. Other than the turnouts and intersections, the trail is strictly one vehicle wide and mostly a shelf road. This does not appear to be a heavily traveled trail, as no other vehicles were encountered on a Saturday. As mentioned, this trail intersects with several other trails that connect to well-known Lytle Creek Road, making it a perfect trail to play on and to easily connect back to Lytle Creek, as well as Highway 15. This was a fun trail, not difficult, and would be a great trail for beginners and novice off-roaders.

Difficulty

Not well maintained, with deep ruts, some loose gravel, mostly one vehicle wide shelf road with few places to pass. This area has a potential for landslides, as there were two large boulders in the middle of the trail that were passable, which should be removed by the forestry service soon, hopefully.
