Trail Overview
The Granite View Loop begins roughly 200 yards past the RTF buildings, where the trail splits and later reconnects. There's no designated direction, so you can choose either way based on the obstacles you want to tackle. Drivers with more capable rigs often prefer counterclockwise, climbing "The Wedge" and "Up Chuck." Alternatively, going clockwise offers a fun ride up "Stage Fright" or the more challenging "Escalator," followed by "Double Trouble." Most of the trail is on granite, but a few dirt sections are constantly changing. "The Wedge" is one such section, with large boulders that have been dug out and are shift over time, making the climb unique each visit. At the top of "The Wedge," look for the "Marlin Crawler Route" on your right a short trail dropping down towards "Fawn Lake" and "Banana Rock". "Up Chuck" is a very steep granite wall with multiple line options. Going up the left line is more common, while the right is better suited for buggies. Winch points are available at the top if needed. From there, you can descend straight down "Escalator," considered the harder route, or stay left to loop around and tackle "Stage Fright," a long, steep descent into the granite bowl that's the easier option. If you run the loop clockwise, about half a mile from the split, you'll reach the bottom of a large granite bowl. Here, you can stay right to climb "Stage Fright," a steep but smoother ascent, or go left up "Escalator," a tougher route with large stair-step features. At the top, you'll face "Up Chuck," an intimidating descent. After "Up Chuck," the trail is relatively smooth until you reach "Double Trouble," a double waterfall climb. While not as challenging as "Up Chuck," it's still demanding. Winch points are available on the wall next to the plaque.
