Trail Overview

Gooseberry is a trail that is also a cross-country ski trailhead during the winter. This trail can be completed in a loop and will also take you to Gianelli Cabin where there are wilderness hiking trails in the area. The trail goes up the mountain and crosses paths with the chair lifts at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. There are some great views on the trail as well as some camping spots on top.

Difficulty

This trail is entry level and does not have many obstacles. Most AWD vehicles and 4x4s can make it with no issues.

First time offroad with our Tremor. Only been mall crawling so far lol 😆 Fun trail not real difficult. Did it two days. Second day there was a fallen tree 🌳 Luckily it was dead and broke up. looking forward to exploring using the OnX app.

Attempted to go but Forest Order No. STF-16-2024-03 Stanislaus National Forest states it will be closed until May 31st. Check Dodge Ridge Ski Resort cameras for snow level

Access Description

To get to this trail you can either start on Dodge Ridge Road and go up the trail. There is a left near the entrance of Dodge Ridge Ski resort at the Y onto 4N34. The other way in is off Crabtree Road (4N26). Continue up 4N26 through the horse camp until you can take a left on 4N27.
