Trail Overview
This trail begins on the east side of Highway 395 just south of Highway 120 and ends at West Portal Road. It is a sandy, dusty, and relatively narrow trail, approximately one vehicle wide, with sharp brush along the edges that can easily scratch vehicles. The trail is less traveled than nearby routes, with some ruts along the way. A notable feature is a dip about one mile in from the highway, so caution is advised. The trail offers beautiful views of the Eastern Sierra peaks and the Crater Mountain range. Historically, this route was part of the original West Portal Road before a newer alignment was created.

Difficulty
This trail is a slight challenge due to narrow sections, brush, and ruts. High clearance is recommended, though four-wheel drive is not strictly required under dry conditions. Drivers should remain cautious in the narrower sections and near the dip.
