Trail Overview
This deep sand wash starts at Tule Wash and ends at Ocotillo Wells SVRA Trail, featuring ruts and tall mud walls that create a dramatic canyon environment. There are hot springs along the way, adding a unique natural feature to explore. The wash includes sections of whoops and washboards that will test your suspension. West of Pole Line Road, the trail gets narrower, and the mud walls disappear, changing the character from enclosed canyon to more open terrain. This is part of the Ocotillo Wells SVRA area, where registered off road vehicles and highway legal vehicles are allowed. Note there is no cell service in the wash, so plan accordingly for this remote route.

Difficulty
The deep sand wash with ruts requires four wheel drive, good tires, and high clearance, which are highly recommended. Airing down is essential for maintaining traction in the deep sand. The whoops and washboards add to the challenge and create a jarring ride. The tall mud walls create flash flood concerns, so weather awareness is critical. The narrowing section west of Pole Line Road demands more careful navigation. This is a technical wash route for capable vehicles.
