Trail Overview
Chute Springs FS 23S68 departs from Highway M504 and runs along a shelf road high above the valley and canyon below through Sequoia National Forest. The trail is lined with oak and pine trees, green grass, and other bushes, with overgrown grass encroaching on the trail in sections. Evidence of the 2021 Windy Fire is apparent throughout the trees along the route. Tight squeeze points between downed trees that have been cut and moved to the sides require careful maneuvering in places. The trail ends at a washout with a single vehicle turnaround spot available.

Difficulty
The hard-packed dirt surface is generally manageable with no major technical obstacles reported. The primary challenges are the tight squeeze points between cut downed trees and the overgrown grass, narrowing the trail in sections. The shelf road above the canyon warrants steady attention throughout. The washout terminus requires a careful single-vehicle turnaround.
