Trail Overview
Chidago Loop is about a 5-mile loop on Chidago Canyon Road. Although it is short, it is quite picturesque; the Sierras peaking over the top of the smaller mountains inside the Chidago Loop puts a new perspective on just how large the Eastern Sierras are. There are a few small trails that shoot off and go back to Chidago Canyon Road before completing the loop, which can be challenging. Chidago Loop is one of those trails that's great to throw in to change things up if you frequent the area. There is a small section to the south that has private property with remnants of an old mine that you can see from the road. The road is wide enough for two vehicles, and there is a small section to pull out on and camp if need be. Be respectful to private property owners. During the thawing of snow, mud is prevalent and can get deep, so use caution. It is also a great escape from the summer heat. It is typically graded. Plated Vehicles Only.
