Trail Overview

Brimstone (FS 24) is a fairly well-maintained road that connects Finning Mill Road, and Elliot Ranch Road. It is an easy route with multiple dirt-bike trail crossings, and access to three separate staging areas (Brimstone, Sugar Pine, and Parker Flat). It is an easy trail for new off-roaders to access spurs to build confidence in their skills, with minimal risk. It is also a good route to use while familiarizing oneself with the surrounding Foresthill OHV Area. There is a sign at the southern end showing the status of Foresthill OHV roads and motorized trails, along with the telephone number to the American River Ranger District.

Difficulty

The majority of the trail is 2 vehicles wide, easy to pass, and drivable with 2WD high clearance vehicles. There are remnants of pavement throughout the first from when the majority of the road was once paved. There are also mild washes throughout the trail, most of which are 8 inches or less. The northernmost section is a single-lane road that is not maintained, where 2WD vehicles may get stuck easily.
