BLM SE125

Trail Overview

Starting off BLM SE138, this sandy route features lots of off-camber sections, ruts, and articulating whoops while going up and down small hills in decidedly non-flat terrain that will test your suspension thoroughly. The trail crosses BLM SE137 and Grapevine Canyon Road before terminating on the north side at a cliff drop-off into Grapevine Canyon, where the continuation vanished, leaving only a void beyond. Creosote bushes and seasonal blooming wildflowers line the edges. Fantastic views unfold of the Eastern Sierra Mountains, including Sand Canyon, Short Canyon, and Grapevine Canyon, creating spectacular panoramas from this challenging route.

Difficulty

The combination of lots of off-camber sections, ruts, and articulating whoops creates relentless technical challenges that truly will test your suspension as claimed. Going up and down small hills adds elevation changes without respite. Sandy surface throughout demands momentum management. The off-camber sections with ruts create worst-case combinations requiring careful navigation. High clearance and four wheel drive are essential. Good suspension articulation matters here. The cliff drop-off ending means careful turnaround planning at the trail's abrupt terminus.
