Trail Overview
Mixing hard pack and soft sand throughout, this route on BLM limited-use land requires staying on designated trails. Great views unfold of the Southern Eastern Sierra Mountains, with the El Paso Wilderness Mountains visible to the east across Highway 14. The trail is lined with very small desert brush and seasonal blooming wildflowers, creating minimal but present vegetation. Lots of ruts, off-camber sections, and washboards all staying under 18 inches create relentless obstacles. The route crosses both BLM LA1 and BLM LA2, connecting these parallel routes. You will run into washboards repeatedly throughout the journey.

Difficulty
The combination of lots of ruts, off-camber sections, and washboards all under 18 inches creates accumulated technical challenges that demand constant attention. Hard pack sections provide relief, while soft sand requires momentum management. Those ruts and off-camber combinations create difficult navigation moments. The washboards create a punishing ride over distance. Respect the limited use designation and stay on designated trails only. High clearance handles the sub-18-inch obstacles while four wheel drive manages the soft sand sections.
