Trail Overview
This out-and-back trail features a mix of deep sand and deteriorating old paved sections, creating unpredictable traction conditions as the surface alternates between the two extremes. There is one section with a big off-camber section that demands careful attention and skilled line choice. The route slowly winds itself to the very top of the mountain, rewarding you with a 360-degree viewpoint of the entire area spread out below. From the summit, you can see the Salton Sea, Ocotillo Wells, Anza Borrego, Fish Creek Mountains, Coyote Mountains, and into Mexico, creating one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the region and making the challenging climb worthwhile.
