Trail Overview
This trail starts off at Superstition Trail on the north side of the mountain and quickly drops into a sandy area, creating an immediate descent from the start. The route is a very sandy trail lined with various desert brush and grasses creating a vegetated corridor through the terrain. The wash has some mud walls adding dramatic vertical features along the way. You'll encounter some washboards scattered throughout creating a bumpy ride. There are areas for dispersed camping where you can set up and enjoy the surroundings. This trail is part of the BLM El Centro Field Office Backcountry Discovery Trail, adding significance to the route as part of a larger trail system.

Difficulty
The very sandy trail requires four wheel drive, and airing down is essential for maintaining traction, especially after the quick drop into the sandy area at the start. The washboards create a jarring ride but aren't technically difficult. The mud walls in the wash create flash flood concerns, so weather awareness is important. Being part of the Backcountry Discovery Trail means this route sees regular traffic and is generally well defined despite the sandy conditions.
