Trail Overview

This medium-sized wash features a very sandy surface with some sections of very deep sand and some ruts over 18 inches, creating serious obstacles. The wash winds through the desert, lined with desert bushes and seasonal blooming wildflowers, adding color to the landscape. There are many sand walls and sand hills creating a dramatic wash environment. Superstition Mountain serves as the backdrop to this trail while heading south, with Fish Lake Mountains also visible in the distance, providing expansive mountain views. The last mile on the south side comes out of the wash and travels over a barren moonlike desert where you'll encounter off-camber sections, ruts, washboards, some deep sand, and small drop-offs all under 18 inches, creating a varied and challenging finish.

Difficulty

The very sandy surface with some very deep sand requires four wheel drive, and airing down is essential for maintaining traction. There are some ruts over 18 inches that are serious obstacles demanding high clearance and careful line choice that may challenge some vehicles. The last mile transition to moonlike desert with off-camber sections, ruts, washboards, deep sand, and small drop-offs under 18 inches creates a technical finale that demands skilled driving. The combination of features throughout makes this a challenging wash route.
