Trail Overview

This 9 mile out and back trail starts off the Bradshaw Trail and runs north to south. The trail was originally a loop but half the trail, which is outside the wash is now private and marked no trespassing with owner controlled access. Amy's Wash is surrounded by 20 foot red mud walls and is lined with lots of vegetation including desert ironwood and cheese bushes. The trail is heavily used with lots of washboards that will test your suspension. You'll encounter deep sand and some deep ruts throughout. The wash opens up into many spots but there are a few narrow sections between trees. The last mile becomes more windy, sandy, and narrow, so wide vehicles will definitely pick up some pinstripes. The trail steadily climbs 459 feet. It is not recommended to camp next to the mud walls as they have been known to collapse.

Difficulty

This trail requires a little more attention than most due to the deep sand and deep ruts. Four wheel drive with good tires is recommended and airing down is a must. The heavy washboards will test your suspension and the narrow sections in the last mile require caution, especially for wider vehicles. Be aware that mud walls can collapse and are worth keeping in mind when choosing a campsite.
