Trail Overview

Starting in Highland, 1n16 is a fairly easy dirt road with some parts rutted out, but any 4x4 can make it through the trail easily. Many parts of the trail are single-vehicle wide, but there are plenty of places to pass along the way. Coming from Highland, the trail ends on 1n16, giving you the choice to exit towards Highway 330 or the longer part of the trail to Seven Oaks and the 38 with more trails connecting up to Big Bear. This trail gives you great views over the Inland Empire and a consistent climb into the San Bernardino mountains for the start of a quick trip up the mountain, or a long day on the trails enjoying the area.

Rocky in some areas but still easy, deep ruts would not recommend for first time riders but everyone else is okay

As a previous reporter stated definitely heavy and deep ruts, lots of rocks/boulders and washboard roads due to the heavy rains this last winter. I was definitely using my skid plates to say the least lol. We had a stock Subaru with us and it didn’t make it more than a couple miles in. Trail traffic was surprisingly picking up closer to the late afternoon with a few instances where we had to do a dance to allow each other to pass the 1-lane roads. Definitely allow twice the estimated travel time if you have a stock 4x4 like I do.

Fairly rutted and washed out. Some portions were narrow and would favor a smaller SUV or dirt bike. Still very passable if you pick good lines
