Trail Overview

The majority of the road is smooth and graded. However, there are sections that can have sticky mud, washed out from seasonal creeks that have a potential for high clearance. Carrizo Plain can get very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. The best time to go in the spring to check out the wildflower blooms. If you are lucky you can see a pronghorn antelope. There is limited cell service.

Trail is open but with all the rain this time of year some of the roads / trails get completely impassible because there is nowhere for the water to drain. BE CAREFUL some roads look bet and solid but when you break through the crusty top layer you will get stuck and there is a lot of spots with no cell service. I was lucky enough to spot a ranger driving by and he pulled my 05 Tacoma that was aired down to 15 psi with full off-road tires and in 4 low out of a 3 feet mud hole that was surrounding my truck.
