Trail Overview

This short trail starts on the east end off of FS 4N81 at a marked entrance, and goes west for a quarter mile until it meets up with 16EV247. It's a narrow single track through the tall oak trees, crossing grassy hillsides that have frequent sharp loose rocks. The grade gets a bit steeper, and covered in the loose rocks, making it a bit more difficult. There are a couple very small drop offs over embedded rock layers as you continue down the hillside. There are also some large logs extended into the trail that you have to skirt around. The trail is tight between the bushes and trees at times as well. This trail is seasonally closed 12/16 - 4/14 to motorized use.

Difficulty

This is a moderate trail due to a couple steeper sections full of loose rocks that add to the technical nature. Although short, the steep section will be a bit more of a challenge for novice riders.

Access Description

This trail system in the Stanislaus National Forest can be accessed from either the Deer Creek Staging Area on the west side of the trail system, or from Crandall Campground on the east side of the trail system. The Deer Creek Staging Area is a primitive dirt lot with space for several vehicles and small trailers, accessed via Italian Bar Road. The Crandall OHV Parking and Camping Area has several primitive camp spots with picnic tables. All of the trails are open from April 15 to December 15, but it gets really hot and dry in the summer here, so the best times to visit are spring and fall.
