Trail Overview
Sandy Flats is a maintained trail that shows clear signs of storm damage and features several steep ascents and descents, particularly as the route drops down into a creek. The creek crossing has a muddy bottom and no concrete bridge, which could make it challenging to navigate during or after heavy rain. The trail is winding, rocky, and often dusty, but rewards travelers with beautiful views from the top of the ridge. There are a few dispersed campsites that can be found along the route, though amenities such as trash disposal and water supply are not available, and cell service is limited.
