Trail Overview
This short but technical spur off Hanging Rock Falls Hollow Trail delivers a surprising challenge for those seeking more after completing the main route. Accessed 1.2 miles from the Hanging Rock trailhead, FS 94669 begins deceptively easy before revealing its true character through a series of tight bypasses and off-camber obstacles. While rated moderate, this trail pushes toward the upper end of that category with genuine vehicle damage risk on several sections. Three bypasses define the trail's difficulty. Two navigate around significant downed trees with extremely tight clearances--4-door Jeeps can squeeze through with skilled driving and a spotter, while full-size vehicles should expect to earn Arkansas pinstripes. Entering one required bypass demands navigating a sketchy off-camber mudhole where sliding too far down the bank puts mirrors and fenders at risk from a downed tree on the west side. A third bypass offers a choice: take the tight twisting turn along the mountain's edge, or commit to the main trail through a deep mudhole that warrants a minimum of 35-inch tires to clear the center ridge without dragging a differential pumpkin or getting stuck like a turtle. The trail surface is typical Ozark rocky terrain with mud sections, though all mudholes have solid rock bottoms. One notable section features off-camber ridges with loose, large rocks--expect wheel lift and careful line selection. The route is carved into the side of Morgan Mountain, offering scenic westward views along several shelf-road sections. While vegetation typically buffers the road from exposure, two of the bypasses sit closer to the edge. The trail terminates at a significant landslide that has destroyed the road--a dramatic display of nature's power, with trees scattered like matches. This natural endpoint makes the route an out-and-back rather than a through-trail. 4WD is required. Lockers are recommended in wet conditions, though dry winter conditions allowed passage without them. 2-door Jeeps and SxS vehicles will find this trail particularly enjoyable given the tight maneuvering required. Full-size trucks and vehicles with trailers are not recommended. Cell service: Surprisingly, one bar of AT&T coverage is available through most of the trail. Best experienced as a companion to Hanging Rock Falls Hollow Trail for drivers seeking additional challenge in the Morgan Mountain area.

Difficulty
This trail pushes toward the upper end of "Intermediate" with genuine vehicle damage risk on several sections. No water crossings on this trail, but several deep mud holes where 12 to 18 inches of clearance is needed to avoid recovery. All vehicle types can legally access the trail; recommend anything larger or longer than a 4-door Wrangler avoid this trail.
History
A landslide wiped out the trail and resculpted the landscape across an area roughly the size of two to three football fields.
