Trail Overview

This is a short trail up to Devil's Knob Fire Tower Lookout with a couple of mild obstacles that require a high-clearance vehicle and, depending on the weather, 4x4. Constructed around 1914, it was one of 121 towers constructed in Arkansas for fire prevention. It is located in Johnson County in the Pleasant Hill Ranger District of the Ozark National Forest.

Hey everyone! This trail is open HOWEVER, beyond the rock step I have pictured above, the trail is not open to motor vehicles!!!! If you are going up the trail to the top of Devil’s knob if you look to the left of the rock step you will see an old gate that used to be installed to stop people from driving up to the top. We were stopped by forest Rangers and they informed us that they could give us citations for driving up to the top. They let us off with a warning. Do not drive passed the old gate/rock step, or you will be at risk of receiving a citation, or warning if you are caught by a ranger. It is unclear in ON X where the MVUM ends. After showing the ranger the app and how it looks, they declared on X off-road to be out of date and wrong.
