Trail Overview
This is a mostly wide, gravel and sand wash. Tyson is a big wash that runs north from south of Quartzsite to just south of Parker. Don't let it fool you, during the rainy season, the water can run several feet deep. If there is any sign of weather its advised to avoid using it. In early fall, after monsoon season, Tyson can be fairly hard-packed and easy to run on. After it dries and traffic picks up, it can be a slow, soft, washboard grind. Tyson gives easy access from either pipeline road to the village of La Paz. Please be aware that there are trails crossing Tyson, so use caution at any intersection. Also note that the southern end of the trail terminates at the border of the Yuma Proving Grounds. It's advised that you do not continue past the 0042 Pipeline road.
