Trail Overview

Southwest Goff Ranch Road offers a well-graded and nicely manicured trail that runs southwest from the gas pipeline road, providing a scenic and accessible journey through the Arizona desert. The trail briefly travels alongside powerlines before diverging in a different direction, leading you into a mesmerizing landscape filled with dense forests of cholla "jumping cactus." As you navigate this open-range area, watch for cattle, which may occasionally cross your path. Be sure to close and secure any gates you come across if they were that way when you found them. This road generally maintains a profile that is wide enough to accommodate oncoming traffic. Still, even as it narrows in some spots, there are plenty of opportunities to pull over and give other travelers room to pass. If you're lucky, you might spot a group of javelinas wandering through the trail, adding an exciting element to your adventure. Along the way, you'll find several other trails that branch off this main route, inviting exploration and further discovery. Just be sure to make a U-turn to the left onto East Willow Springs before reaching the ranch house on private property. While at least one open spot is suitable for group camping, it does not appear to be a designated camping area; there are better trails to look for camp in. While generally well-graded with occasional pullouts for oncoming traffic, it can be subject to washouts after heavy monsoons, which may reveal a few deeper dips and sandy wash crossings. Important Note: Expect cellular service to be around two to three bars of Verizon LTE for most of the trail. However, it is advisable to download your offline maps prior to setting off.
