Trail Overview
Rut Haven is a transitional trail along the Southern Edge of the Kaibab National Forest. On the South, you'll start in the open space pastures and mixed pine. Sagebrush and undergrowth are visible here. As you head Northward, you transition into the mighty forest of Ponderosa Pine Trees that make up one of the largest forests in the world. The trail itself has no major obstacles on it, but don't attempt it during monsoon season without 4-wheel drive. When this trail was mapped (August, 2024) the trail was one large, deep, slick mud rut. This area is popular with elk, deer, and antelope, and that would be fine - except when it was mapped the cattle were here as well, and communing in and around the water gathered on the trail. There are very deep mud ruts that will make your rig covered in mud.

Difficulty
This is a one-lane mud rut (during monsoon season) with cattle excrement but other than the mud and cattle excrement it is an easy trail.
