Trail Overview
The Pronghorn Trail Loop is a maintained but heavily corrugated and dusty route, best navigated at a slow and steady pace for a more comfortable ride. The winding trail passes through a hunting exclusion zone, making it an excellent area for wildlife sightings, including white-tailed deer. While the rough surface may tempt drivers to speed up to minimize the impact of the corrugations, caution is essential, as many of the turns are unexpectedly tight. To ensure the road remains passable during the rainy season, pavement has been laid down in the washes, making it a suitable drive for those in a sedan or SUV. The route offers a scenic and relaxing "Sunday" drive, with the added convenience of a visitor center located off the loop. This facility features thick-walled construction and a staffed service desk, with limited trash disposal and water supply available. Reliable cell service makes it easy to stay connected throughout the journey.
