Trail Overview

M0786 is an engaging trail characterized by primarily narrow dirt paths that wind through a vibrant landscape rich with desert flora. As you traverse the trail, you'll encounter an array of desert plants that can pose a challenge for larger vehicles, leading to potential paint damage, commonly known as desert pinstriping. This trail features crossings over various washes, which may show smaller erosion sections requiring careful observation. M0786 shines especially for those driving smaller side-by-side (SXS) vehicles, as the narrower trail is better suited for agile maneuvering. Beginning on BLM land, the trail eventually crosses into state trust land, leading to a four-way intersection of dirt paths near a private property area clearly marked with "No Trespassing" signs. It's important to respect property boundaries;the trail makes a sharp 90-degree turn away from the private land, guiding you back into the openness of the desert. As you explore, you'll be delighted by the large, beautiful saguaro cacti dotting the landscape, adding charm to the visit. A lovely campsite with a fire ring is located just off the trail, providing an ideal stop for those wishing to enjoy a night among the stars. With 5G cell service available throughout much of the trail, staying connected while enjoying nature is a plus. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife;javelinas have been observed in this area, adding an element of excitement to your adventure. Important Note: Be sure to access M0786 from either end and always leave gates as you find them to maintain access and respect for the land. Also, remember to prepare adequately with sufficient water and supplies before heading out, and don't forget to secure your Arizona State Land Trust permit for access to the area.
