Trail Overview

FS 9014K is a challenging forest trail that cuts between two private subdivisions and delivers a dynamic mix of terrain, steep grades, and forest scenery. The route begins on the east side with a steep, rocky climb that winds through tall pine trees, requiring traction, clearance, and precise driving. Once the trail crests the ridge, it opens into a long meadow- a previously clear-cut area now slowly filling in with young pine growth. The trail flattens briefly here, but becomes a muddy dirt track with some embedded rocky patches, especially after rain or snowmelt. Watch for elk and other wildlife, as this open area is a common grazing spot. As the trail curves south, it descends sharply back into the forest, featuring loose rock, small ledge-style drops, and a sustained downhill grade. Careful throttle and brake control are essential on this portion, particularly if the surface is wet. This trail is remote and rugged, and while relatively short, it offers an actual backcountry driving experience with scenic forest surroundings and varied terrain.

This trail is rated a solid 4 due to its steep rocky climbs, muddy sections, and technical descent. Expect loose rocks, smaller drop-offs, and rutted, uneven ground. High-clearance 4x4 vehicles are required, and drivers should have solid off-road experience and be prepared for variable trail conditions. Not recommended in wet weather unless equipped for recovery. A rugged but rewarding route for advanced explorers.
